Tenzin Thupwang was born in 1965 at Dahpo in Southern Tibet
In 1969 Tenzin
and his family escaped from Tibet to India and resettled
in
Tezu Dhargyeling resettlement area in Northeast India in the Arunachal
Pradesh State.
Tenzin attended day school until eighth grade and then in 1979
joined the Namgyal Monastery in
Dharamsala H.P. India. He studied Buddhist Philosophy, Ritual Dance,
Creating Sand Mandalas, Ritual musical instruments, and butter sculpture.
He passed the highest set of oral examinations before His Holiness the Dalai Lama, his teachers and the entire assembly of the Namgyal Monastery monks, on his memorization of the ritual texts of the following categories: Kalachakra, Guhyasamaja, Chakrasambara, Vajrabairava, Mahakala, Dharmaraha,
Mahakali, Vaissravana and other Dharmapalas.
In 1992 Tenzin resigned from monk’s life and went back to his village,
there he began working in the office of Tibetan
Welfare for four years.
Later he moved to Dharamsala and worked for the
Namgyal Monastery where he translated texts and greeted dignitaries at the main temple.
